New Kristen Interview with The Music Australia

Playing amateur psychologist based on a 15-minute interview and a Google search (an extensive Google search, mind you) isn’t the wisest of moves, but I’m going to give it a whirl anyway: Kristen Stewart is nowhere near as surly, withdrawn or detached as the Twilight star’s naysayers would have you think.

There have been a fair few articles and opinion pieces about the 22-year-old actress’ demeanour, particularly when she’s on the publicity trail (sample headline: ‘Kristen Stewart Is Trolling The World’), but get her talking about what draws her to a project or shapes her performance and Stewart is forthcoming with ideas and impressions. Not all are completely formed but the fact that she seems to be considering her answers rather than relying on ready-made anecdotes and platitudes is actually kind of cool.

Along with co-star Chris Hemsworth and director Rupert Sanders, Stewart was in Australia this week to promote her latest film, the revisionist fairy tale Snow White And The Huntsman, a big-budget fantasy that adds a slight shade of darkness to the story of the ‘fairest of them all’ princess. (That said, have you read the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale lately? Some pretty gnarly stuff in there.)

She plays Snow White, imprisoned and victimised by her wicked stepmother Ravenna (Charlize Theron), a witch who retains her beauty by literally drawing the life out of the young women of the land. When Snow White escapes, Ravenna dispatches Hemsworth’s boozy, brawling Huntsman to bring her back. But it’s not long before the two outsiders join forces to take the battle to the evil Ravenna, aided by a band of dwarves played by the best-of-British likes of Bob Hoskins, Ian McShane and Ray Winstone.

Part 2 of Kristen and Rupert's interview with 'The West Australian'

This is a different interview than the one we posted here 2 days ago.

If you are going to inject a classic fairy tale with contemporary relevance, it helps to have as your leading lady an actress who speaks to her generation.

Director Rupert Sanders admits that he has seen only the first Twilight film – but he knew when it came to finding a girl who embodied all the qualities of the gutsy heroine at the centre of his first feature film, Snow White and the Huntsman, there could be no one better suited to the role than Kristen Stewart.

“She’s very contemporary and very spirited,” Sanders says of the 22-year-old star who has become a household name playing Bella Swan in the hit vampire film franchise.

“She carries a lot of weight on her shoulders and does it with far more years than she has under her belt. There was just something about that spirit that was undefined and raw that drew us to her. It’s very unbridled and kind of un-manicured.”

It’s the morning after the Australian premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman (or SWATH as the film is known on Twitter), Sanders’ ambitious, big-budget adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairytale, featuring a stellar cast including Australian Chris Hemsworth and Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron.

In the plush confines of Sydney’s Park Hyatt Hotel, Sanders is sitting alongside his leading lady whose casual leggings, old grey t-shirt and flannel shirt, belie the fact she has, just that morning, been named by Forbes as the highest-paid actress in Hollywood.

“Well, she’s worth every penny,” he adds, giving the uncomfortable- looking actress a reassuring smile.

More from Kristen and Rupert's Interview with 'The Sydney Morning Herald'

IN HER new film, the fantasy epic Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart plays a young princess who escapes deprivation and confinement, survives testing trials and acquits herself as a leader ready to claim what is rightfully hers. The story is derived from a Brothers Grimm fairytale, but it has no shortage of contemporary relevance, especially for the American actress.

''She's been imprisoned by Twilight and this is her breakout,'' says Rupert Sanders, the British director making his first feature with Snow White and the Huntsman. ''Kristen's very talented and she's got a huge career ahead of her where she will constantly surprise people.''

As one of the few successful child actors to transition without a hitch into adult roles, Stewart feels like a familiar screen fixture despite being merely 22 years old. She was just 17 when she was cast as Bella Swan, the chaste teenage girl who falls in love with Robert Pattinson's brooding vampire in 2008's Twilight. That overwrought franchise finally ends this November, and it appears that while she's grateful for the exposure, Stewart is ready for the next phase of her career.

''I'm not trying to distance myself from Twilight, but there are several films coming out this year that are going to compound the sense of change,'' Stewart says. ''I've done things that are far and away from anything I could imagine, and right now I'm bursting with emotions and questions.''

New Kristen Interview with The Hot Hits from SWATH Sydney Premiere

Watch at the Source

We've been so excited that Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth are in the country, and last night we stepped out onto the white carpet for the premiere of their new movie 'Snow White And The Huntsman'!

Rupert Sanders directs the upcoming action/drama starring Charlize Theron, and had nothing but positive words to say about Kristen.

He revealed "When I met her I was very taken by this rebellious streak to her... she's a very tough girl. If the role demands it she'll throw herself off a cliff."

We also asked the lovely Kristen Stewart to tell us how it was to work with Charlize Theron!

"Awesome..." Kristen said. "She's a real game upper. I want to stand on my tip toes around her, I want to impress her..."

"You're always taking a bit of a gamble signing onto a movie... (but I knew) I want to work with her... it could be a terrible movie, (but) I want to work with her."

New Kristen and Chris Interview with Take40 from SWATH Sydney Press Junket

We were so excited to chat to both Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth this week, when they were in town to promote their upcoming action/ drama movie 'Snow White and The Huntsman.'

The film tells the old fairytale of Snow White, but in a thrilling new contemporary way!

Kristen plays the leading character, and revealed of the modern interpretation: "The coolest thing about it is that she is very much what you'd imagine Snow White to be...She's very pure, she's got this connection to the earth, she's very compassionate and all that."

"But it's not fake, she doesn't have a super power."

Chris Hemsworth also had some interesting titbits to share about his involvement in the film, including the admission that he loved singing Enya on set!

"Maybe I liked a bit of Enya," he revealed to the Take 40 team. My whole thing was this reminds me of Lord Of The Rings... we need some Enya... so I may have sung Enya through the shoot a bit."

We wish he would sing Enya to us!

Kristen added sarcastically "(He sang) just a couple of times... it memorable for me, obviously."

New Kristen Interview with The West Australian

Kristen Stewart may have just been named the highest paid actress in Hollywood - but it appears the Twilight star was the last to know. Stewart, who is in Australia promoting Snow White and the Huntsman, raked in $US34.5 million ($34.2 million) in the past year, helped by her new movie, in which she co-stars with Australian actor Chris Hemsworth.

However, the 22-year-old had no idea about her new title until she was asked by Access All Areas during an interview in Sydney yesterday how she felt about knocking Angelina Jolie off the top of Forbes' list.

"Oh wow," a clearly embarrassed Stewart said, just hours after the news hit the internet. "What are you talking about? I didn't know that."

While her bank balance proves otherwise, sitting alongside SWATH director Rupert Sanders at Sydney's exclusive Park Hyatt hotel yesterday afternoon, Stewart looked like any other 20-something girl, dressed casually in worn-out leggings and a grey flannel shirt.

Even at the Australian premiere of SWATH on Tuesday night, she ditched her Christian Louboutin heels for a pair of comfy Converse sneakers.

New Rob Interview in Télé Câble SAT Magazine (France)

image host image host

Bel Ami is different from the Twilight movies that made you an international star. Why this movie?
Rob: I forced myself from the beginning to do different movies between each Twilight films because it made me feel better to become a normal guy again with no excessive makeup or contact lenses. That's why I wanted to do Bel Ami. I knew of Maupassant's novel because I love French litterature. The only regret I have is that we filmed in Hungary instead of Paris.

Why didn't you film in France?
Rob: It's very difficult to find the Paris from Guy de Maupassant in the French capital today. Whereas there's hundreds of streets in Budapest that look like Paris from the 19th century. But I hope to film in France soon.

Do you already have a project that would allow that?
Rob: David Cronenberg has a film idea that could be done in France and I would be thrilled to collaborate with him again.
