Kristen Interview in Premiere Magazine

P: The last Twilight movie comes out this November, you were in Cannes to promote On the Road and now we can see you, this month, on the big screen in Snow White and the Huntsman. It's a big year for you, is it the most impressive of your career?
KS: The most exciting for sure! And yes probably the most important since the first Twilight movie. I'm happy to have three different movies. The contrast between all of them might help viewers see me in a different light. But it wasn't something I planned. I didn't tell myself: "Perfect, let's make sure those three movies come out at the same time, so people can see how wide my acting range is." *laughs* It was a fluke, it wasn't the result of a strategy or a some kind of big career move.

P: It's hard to not see, with Cosmopolis and On the Road being selected at Cannes, that the Twilight chapter is ending for you and Robert Pattinson ...
KS: Yes, Cannes is like the Holy Grail, the ultime goal for every actor. It's not why we do this job but there's no more gratifying reward than to have a movie selected there. Saying this, tho, it's hard for me to talk about the end of Twilight. First, because the last movie isn't out yet and second because I never felt like I was trapped by the saga. I always tried to have a change of air, to do something different between two movies.

What made you want to play Snow White on the screen ?
At first, Snow White is a classic. I like this heroine, because she is deeply kind, full of empathy to the others. I wanted to compose a human character, close to us. Snow White and the Huntsman, is especially an epic movie, with beautiful emotional moments and great action scenes.

This valiant and warlike Snow White is far from the heroine portrayed in the Brothers Grimm story…
I love the dark side of the character. It’s true there are some hard times in this movie. Personally, I’m attracted by the dark univers. I took my character up to this dark side. In this movie, she is not passive : she slips on an armor, takes the lead of the rebellion against the bad queen (Charlize Theron on the screen).
Do you find something about yourself in this character ?
Yes, but I think I’m a little more crazy than Snow White ! (laugh)

The movie is full of fight scenes, it wast not too hard ?
I like doing my own stunts, I love sport, I’m a big action movies consumer. On the set, I suffered a lot. (After having hurt her hand, the actress gave accidentally a punch in the face of her colleague Chris Hemsworth – who play the Huntsman – during a fight scene.)

(Translation of the new quotes only)

Twilight is a huge fenomenon and it gave you thousands of fans, but at the same time it gave you lots of detractors. How do you feel about these polar opposites?

It’s funny because I get nervous when I’m talking to the press about me. I don’t like that people have this idea of me being stuck up, or that I don’t care about giving interviews. If people are going to hate me because of this missconception, then it’s my job to prove that they’ couldn’t be more wrong. But if they have other reasons to hate me, then it doesn’t bother me at all. I’m happy doing what I do.

Momma Stew mentions Kristen with Total Film

image host

“To have your daughter being so in the public eye and so popular, a lot of people accuse me of using her to get what I am,” Stewart openly admits. “That’s a negaive thing and not true.”

Stewart Jr. (Kristen) intended to play Butterfly, a transvestite male inmate of K-11, a real wing of the LA jail reserved for gay, transvestite and transgender inmates, where Goran Visnjuc’s heterosexual innocent man is thrown. Then Twilight happened… “She became this big movie star. She became too big for me. She stepped away to protect it.”

After three stalled starts, Stewart gained French funding and energetically cracked on but the film remained a family affair.

Kristen got a role in the end as the voice of a secretary on the phone (a "micro cameo!")and her brother, Cameron makes his screen debut as the mohawked neo-nazi.

David Cronenberg Talks About Rob and Cosmopolis with The Sunday Times

On the many critics who have since taken chunks out of Cosmopolis for being alienating and cold, he scoffs, “Rob [Robert Pattinson] told me that he’d read a description of the film as ‘aggressively unloveable’! And I thought, ‘Well I rather like that!’ Because if you’re not making movies that are desperate to be loved — and I’m not — then you expose yourself to all kinds of attacks and criticism and misunderstandings.”

(...)

The supporting cast, including Juliette Binoche, Giamatti, Sarah Gadon and Samantha Morton, acquit themselves amiably in a series of exchanges that aim to illustrate the emptiness of Packer’s life, and yet offer the possibility that he might be capable of redemption. While elsewhere the centrepiece prostate exam plays a deceptively large part in the narrative movement, and in the very Cronenbergian notion that biology leads the way.

New Rob Interview with Guardian UK

image host image host image host

"I don't really know how accepted I am," says Robert Pattinson as he sips on an enormous paper cup of Coke. "Nothing ever matters to me apart from the people with negative opinions. That's literally it. That always drives me on to the next thing. It's funny, you just focus on them and then the next movie. That's the only thing you're thinking about when it comes out."

For someone with the world at his feet – he has the Twilight franchise behind him and David Cronenberg's icy drama Cosmopolis as his next release – Pattinson gives a good impression of a man plagued with self-doubt. "I've never really taken myself seriously as an actor," he says, fresh off a plane from Germany, where, he notes by the by, everybody seems to hate him.

"It is surprising the amount of people who think I'm going to be really dumb," he says. "I think they think anyone who has done teen movies is just an idiot. I don't know, maybe I am. Some of the best actors, if you talk to them, they're not the smartest people in the world."

New Rob and David Cronenberg Interview witth CTV News from Cosmopolis Toronto Press Junket

"Twilight" star Robert Pattinson may seem like nothing more than a teen heartthrob to his critics. But his detractors may change their minds after watching his risky performance in the new David Cronenberg film, "Cosmopolis."

In Canadian theatres on Friday, Pattinson headlines this masterful and, at times, chilling adaptation of Don DeLillo's 2003 novel, "Cosmopolis."

Let's talk about Cosmopolis. It's a game-changer for you...
I saw it and I liked it. I don't normally like my stuff but I didn't really recognise myself.

How did David Cronenberg guide your performance?
We both started out not really knowing exactly what it was about but knowing it was interesting. I was trying to prepare for it, but the time it felt most right [while filming] was when you didn't know what you were doing. David had this uncanny sense of seeing when I didn't know what I was doing and that was always the take that he liked.

New Rob Interview with Toronto.com from Cannes

CANNES, FRANCE—Robert Pattinson swears he can tell how people are enjoying his movies by how many coughs he hears from the audience.

He employed this unique gauge at the May 25 Cannes Film Festival world premiere of Cosmopolis, his new movie directed by David Cronenberg.

“I watched it at the screening last night, but I wasn’t even watching,” Pattinson, 26, tells a roundtable of journalists.

“I was just listening for every cough: Please don’t cough! Please don’t cough!”

He seems awfully nervous for one so successful. He’s the lead star of the Twilight franchise, playing moody vampire Edward Cullen, a role that has made him famous and rich. Pattinson also had a small role in another big film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

He’s neither new at this game nor naĂŻve. Could he really suffer from self-doubt?

David Cronenberg Talks About Rob and Cosmopolis with CBC Radio

The clip autoplays so it's under the cut. Starts at 2:25

Rob and David Cronenberg Talks 'Maps to the Stars' with EW

For those of you who don’t get how David Cronenberg would want to work with Robert Pattinson, just look at Breaking Dawn. If Bella’s pregnancy doesn’t count as a prime example of Cronenbergian body horror, then I don’t know what does. And now, it appears that Pattinson and Cronenberg are hoping to pair up once more following their upcoming Cosmopolis. Pattinson confirmed to EW that he’s attached to the director’s long-gestating Maps to the Stars — although he’s not sure when they would begin production. “I don’t know if I’m doing it next,” he says. Cronenberg has stated that he hopes to cast frequent collaborator Viggo Mortensen as well.

The film would be based on a script by novelist and screenwriter Bruce Wagner, who has also written an adaptation of Jonathan Lethem’s novel, As She Climbed Across the Table, for Cronenberg. “It’s about child stars,” says Pattinson of Wagner’s script. “It’s very funny. It’s very, very dark.”

Cosmopolis, which is based on a 2003 Don DeLillo novel, debuted two weeks ago at the Cannes Film Festival.
