Breaking Dawn: Part 2 Production Update from Bill Condon

From Twilight Facebook Page:

Hello Twihards!

Greetings from Los Angeles, where we're hard at work on BREAKING DAWN, PART TWO. It's truly crazy to think that it's been a year since we wrapped production in Vancouver, since for those of us in the editing room the work has never stopped.

A film is a lot like a puzzle, with each piece - each shot, no matter how brief - needing to fit exactly with the ones around it. Our Part Two puzzle is finally coming into full view, and in a few weeks we'll be heading back north to pick up some additional shots - the last tiny missing pieces. We're not shooting any new scenes or dialogue, just some technical work with some of our cast and stunt actors.

I am really looking forward to being back on set with some of the friends I've made on my Twilight journey, like the great Guillermo Navarro, our cinematographer, and his crew. And yes, Rob and Kristen will be there too, to pop in those gold contacts one last time...

I'm excited to report that before too long we'll have another trailer for you to decode. And wait until you see the first posters -- they're unlike any "Twilight" images you've seen before. And then November 16th will be upon us and the final film will be yours!

Until then, have a very happy spring, and I'll check back in with you soon.

Best wishes,
Bill

Sarah Gadon Talks about Her Role in Cosmopolis and Rob with Filler Magazine

image host

Shaking off the reserve demanded by her Dangerous Method role, the actress swaps the inhibitions of her Emma Jung character for the modern liberty of Cosmopolis’s Elise Shifrin, the eccentric poet and heiress, whom 28-year-old Eric Packer (Pattinson) put a ring on not 22 days prior to when the narrative action begins.

“She’s an oddball,” says Gadon of Elise. “When I read the script, I almost thought that she was kind of a hermit, even though she is a socialite, because she’s kind of inaccessible. I almost feel like she’s the type of person that doesn’t see the light of day very often.” Detecting a touch of the Grey Garden recluse in her character, Gadon researched “Big Edie’s” generation of atypical socialites for insight into the enigmatic Elise and her relationship with husband Eric. “She doesn’t really surface, she’s just right under the surface. And, I think her interactions with her husband are all about trying to figure out who he is and what the hell he does. I feel like they’re constantly trying to communicate, but they’re speaking two completely different languages,” the actress explains.

A critique on celebrity culture, Antiviral, which co-stars up-and-comer, Caleb Landry Jones (seen later this year in Byzantium starring British A-listers Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Arterton, Jonny Lee Miller and Sam Riley) was the ideal successor to the pop culture-laden Cosmopolis. “Coming off of the film with David and Rob, it really got my wheels turning about the whole idea of cultural phenomenon, pop stars [and] celebrity-ism.”

Chris Hemsworth Talks About Kristen at Avengers Junket

image host

Could Snow White take down Thor?

Not necessarily, but Chris Hemsworth, 28, said Kristen Stewart, 22, has an open invitation to hang with the badass boys of Marvel’s The Avengers.

“Hell ya,” Chris told Celebuzz at The Avengers junket when we asked if Snow White and the Huntsman is really as badass as we are all expecting. But would she hold her own with the superheros?

“I think so,” smiled Hemsworth. “Why not? We need some more girls.”

In all seriousness, Chris was very genuine when praising SWATH and Stewart. “She’s very talented. It was great working with her,” he said, adding that Kristen is “awesome” at playing the fearless heroin.

Transcript: by us.

It's the climactic scene of Snow White & The Huntsman, and Total Film has just walked in on one major bitch fight. Kristen Stewart's eponymous heroine is lying on her back while Charlize Theron's Evil Queen Raveena is standing over her, sword in hand, ready to show just who is the meanest of them all. "By fairest blood it is done," yells Theron, as she plunges the blade towards the Twilight star's chest. Somehow, Stewart stops it going in; Theron, stunned, falls back onto the stone floor. From somewhere in the darkness, a voice yells: "Cut."

A few minutes later, Stewart strides over in full body armour. Her "hair black as night," as Ravenna herself terms it, this Snow White is bruised and battle scarred. So how was that little tete-a-tete? "Getting the crap kicked our of me by Charlize?" she grins. "It's been good. She's not afraid to take a hit. And she keeps telling me to hit her harder. We're similar in tat we shut off when the cameras start rolling. I think she hit my stunt double today. Not to blow her cover, but we both go into a zone and it gets fairly dangerous."

That says it all: scratch what you know about Snow White, ditch what you remember about dwarfs called Dopey, for SWATH is all about returning a classic fairytale to its Grimm roots. Gothic, bloody and twisted, this medieval madness is enough to make Uncle Walt blanch. "People think that Snow White is Disney.' says debut director Rupert Sanders, after he steps our of the shadows to join us for a natter over coffee. "Disney really made the [Brothers] Grimms' fairytale very family oriented. But it's actually is a very dark story about so many deeper issues than were in the Disney film"

We're at Pinewoods Studios, day 76 f a four -month shoot. With a week to go, Sanders is looking remarkably calm for a man not only working on his first blockbuster, but making his feature debut. Then again, just take a look at his commercials: the spot for Halo 3, with its eerie tableauz-like scenes of carnage, or the explosive ad of Call of Duty, as school kids, nurse and concierges go to war on a real-life battlefield. "His work's very cinematic, very bold and very cutting edge," says producer Sam Mercer. "We wanted the movie presented in that way."
....

"It's cool to play a character who's able to step outside of herself and consider others in an almost supernatural way," she says, "but at the same time know that she's human and has those struggles and still fights for herself as well. She's the essential leader. The definition of a hero... so many of our heroes are assholes. They find pleasure in hurting people. She doesn't. Yet she can seriously take care of business."

"It's definitely the most action I've ever had to do," she says.

--Charlize "When people go and see this," she smiles, "it's going to be spectacular, huge"

What make SW&TH so tantalizing is the prospect of watching this full-on-face-off between two females- a highly unusual dynamic in Hollywood. "It's so rare to have a lead [female] character be proactive and push her own story forward, rather than be affected by all of the outside elements," says Stewart "Hopefully we do that. I'm really proud of it. It's always good for women to feel empowered."

"I'd love nothing more than for this to be so big a success that they're able to make another one," says Hemsworth.

For Stewart, it means starting a new franchise just after freeing herself from the jaws of another one. But she's ready for it. "Well, I am the fairest in the land!" she says, tongue firmly buried in cheek. "And I have seriously a good heart, for people that don't know me!"
