Jules Stewart's Interview with Italian Vanity Fair Scan

Jules mentions Kristen and Rob.

Translation thanks to CSI_Robsten

Bella's mom takes up cinema and debuts as a director. But when asked if her daughter's heart still beats for Pattinson, she cryptically answers "do you remember a story about us?"

They say that, looking at his mother-in-law, a man will know how his wife will be. Well then, Robert Pattinson can consider himself lucky, Jules Stewart is an icon lady.
Mama Stewart isn't the only Stewart involved in the movie. In the cast there's also the first-born Cameron, and it seems that the star of the family, too, Kristen, made her contribution. What is her role then? At a first screening, it's virtually impossible to recognize her, so keep reading to find it out.

- Did you ask your daughter to play in your movie?
"She would have loved it, but she was busy doing On The Road when we were shooting, she does have a little cameo, though. Hers is the voice of the secretary Raymond speaks over the phone to."

- And it was your son's debut. What was it like?
"It was better that I'd expected. He was very helpful and he very well managed to come out of his comfort zone."

- Is it true that he told you 'if my sister can do it [being an actor] I can, too'?
[laughs] "Yeah, they're very close and always joke."

- Your daughter has been acting since she was 9, will there be another actor in the family?
"I don't know, but I've never interfered with their choices anyway."

- neither about love?
"No."

- Aren't you jealous your daughter is now a woman and has a famous boyfriend?
"No, on the contrary. She's very much in love and it's great. Everyone should be."

- What's your relationship with Pattinson?
"I like him, we get along. But I keep myself out of their relationship."

- You must give Kristen some advice, though
"Oh course I do when she asks for it, but I never impose my opinion."

- When they broke up in July (after those pictures of her and Rupert kissing) what did you tell her?
"We had a long conversation which I'm not going to share."

- Where did the idea of your movie come from?
"A boy who went to that jail told me he'd want to write a screenplay about the K-11 area, so we started to work together."

- What was the hardest scene to shoot?
"Shooting a scene with 65 people in one room, which made it a bit claustrophobic. Being in jail is basically like living in a box where there's no privacy."

- What is the message of the movie?
"That it's okay to be different."

- Does that mean that even the most adrift characters are good?
"Yes. The charachters of K-11 represents the emotions, the anger, the regrets and love of every human being."

- What is it like to work in a business that is full of men?
"We may have more difficulties but we're now coming out with our creative side. The men I worked with were happy to listen to other points of view."

- You have divorced your husband John after 27 years of marriage. What is it like to be a middle-aged single woman?
"I don't want to define myself on the fact I have or don't have a man. I feel very strong. I can be by myself and be who I want."

  2. Such a classy lady. All the Stewart's handle personal questions so well, I would go crazy and legit hit the so called journalist. Lol

  3. Personal much? Seriously, too many personal questions. "How is your daughter's relationship?" "What happened after they broke up?" "You just got divorced." Really?

  4. i think mama stew over shared. she should have just not answered any rob/kris questions. but i feel that even the little she said, will be used in a dumb tabloid headline somewhere. O well!!! *sigh*

    1. ITA with you! I'm kind of shocked that she answered these very private questions about Rob and Kristen and I would be really pissed off with my Mum if she would do the same. Considering how much Kristen and Rob are trying to protect their private life and keep it for themselves it's kind of a betrayal of trust, especially when it comes from a close beloved one.

    2. When you raise your children to assert themselves, say what they want to say, then they are going to do just that. It also means that the inverse is true. The parents are often going to say what the child would rather they didn't say. But both respect the other's right to say what they wish without internal censoring or second guessing. Jules Stewart is a parent who is not an authoritarian one. Nor is her daughter an authoritarian daughter with her mother. You can slice the bread both ways is what I mean.

    3. I see your point. But if you honestly respect someone you shouldn't share what wasn't meant to share. To say nothing even though you have any right to say what you wish is truly an act of love and respect, because it shows that you consider the other's right (to keep their personal life private) more than your own. That's called love.

  6. Wow - what a personally invasive interview. Kudos to her for not socking the guy one but I wouldn't have answered any of those questions. Who knows maybe she didn't....you can't trust what you read anymore...writers and interviewers twist words around all the time.

  7. If my mom was answering personal questions about my relationship with my bf i would be a little upset.I think she shouldnt have answer those personal questions she should have said no comment.

  8. there were too many personal questions, but i think she handled them all pretty good.
i really loved it when she said "she's very much in love"(kristen)and that she has a very good relationship with rob!!! but i honestly believe that the journalist shouldn't have mentioned what happened in july....i mean, she's her daughter!!!!plus, the question about her divorce..very rude!!!
anyway..we should keep the "she's very much in love" part!!!!!!!

    1. Well no the journalist shouldn't have, but that's on the journalist. And to call someone like this a journalist is to besmirch the lable of journalist. She is a dime a dozen interviewer, that's all. She asks questions like a novice. She is an assistant to someone, somewhere, at some time. She is a nothing and will continue to be a nothing if she continues like this.

  9. She is a strong, independent person. The reporter is too much invasive to her personal life but her answer is great.

  11. Are you jealous? How odd! Maybe interview MEANT to say-- Aren't you happy for?

  12. I liked the interview. She's a mom, like me, who has kids and we don't mince words. My girls are 30 adn 24 and I don't share details, but she said what needed to be said. We all know what went down, we all know Mom probably had a lot to say. To hear that Kristen is in love and that Jules said she likes Rob is enough for me. Go Jules!

  13. I'd take this interview with a pinch of salt! For a start Kristen was filming SWATH when K-11 was being made, not On The Road. If the magazine can't get that right when it's well known information, then what can you believe. In the remote possibility Jules really did give these answers then R & K would feel very much betrayed, since they hold onto their privacy fiercely. I just can't imagine her doing that to them.

    1. what did she reveal? she just said her daughter is i love

  14. What was said that would be taken as a betrayal? I felt she was pretty tight lipped.

  15. Very disappointed with this Vanity Fair journalist. This was a story about Jules Stewart and K-11, her moment, her directing debut and they somehow manage to make this about Twilight (by making a Bella reference) and Rob and Kristen' s relationship not only with the invasive personal questions which was ok but also by beginning the article talking about "in-laws" etc. I know they were tryna give some kind of angle but they could have just talked about her being an iconic woman, K-11 being a bold movie, Cannes etc without being Kristen and July into this. I know I'm ranting but these journalists make me so mad these days...

  16. Ahaa! For those who said they've never broke up!
