Reeses Witherspoon Gushes About Rob

Reese Witherspoon is about to marry her own leading man, but the Oscar winner admits to enjoying another hunk's charms on screen.

"I am so lucky," Witherspoon gushes to Entertainment Tonight of her love scenes with Robert Pattinson in their upcoming movie Water for Elephants. "He's so amazing and wonderful and sweet and just the nicest guy too, so you can just add that to the soup."

"I mean, he's just so good looking and he's a really nice person," she continues.

That said, Witherspoon admitted the pair have a more humorous than amorous relationship off screen. "We'll probably just laugh the whole time, because all we do is just laugh and joke around," Reese says.

In Water for Elephants, which arrives in theaters on April 22, Witherspoon, 34, and Pattinson, 24, play lovers involved in a triangle that develops between their characters and Witherspoon's onscreen husband.

And this is not the first film they've been in together: Pattinson had a part as Witherspoon's son in Vanity Fair – only it ended up on the cutting room floor. Still, Withersoon has some vivid memories of first seeing the actor.

"He was walking down this corridor and I turned to the director and I said, 'That's my son? He's so good looking,' " she says. "I was like, 'He's so hot!' "

In real life, Witherspoon is engaged to talent agent Jim Toth, 40, and Pattinson continues a low-key romance with his Twilight costar Kristen Stewart

Old Kristen Interview with NJ.com - Adventureland Promo

For millions of swooning fans, the movie of 2008 was "Twilight." For star Kristen Stewart, it was a new and surprising dawn. The daughter of a TV producer and a writer, she'd been acting since she was a child, doing the kind of parts that Evan Rachel Wood had grown out of, and Dakota Fanning hadn't yet grown into.
Then came the goose-pimpled fable. And suddenly Stewart had to deal with "Twilight" mania (a tiny bit scary), David Letterman interviews (a little uncomfortable) and a hot career (surprising, but very nice).
It was daunting at first, but Stewart -- who turns 19 next week -- has learned to take it and to take time out for herself. And for us, recently, to talk about her new movie, Greg Mottola's comic romance "Adventureland."

Q: There are a lot of movies about unhappy suburban teens, but "Adventureland" feels like the way 18-year-olds really think.
A: Well, it's sort of Greg's story, so it's written from a very real, personal standpoint ... It deals with some things that have been touched on before, but nothing starts out cliche, or ends up glorified. It's not cheesy.

Q: Are there a lot of cheesy scripts out there about people your age?
A: There's a lot of material floating around that's sort of empty. And I can't really work on something like that. I can only be a part of something that feels like, if I don't bring this character to life she's going to die right there on the page.

The Yellow Handkerchief Featured in Roger Ebert's 'The Best Art Films of 2010' List

This is the last of my lists of the best films of 2010, and the hardest to name. Call it the Best Art Films. I can't precisely define an Art Film, but I knew I was seeing one when I saw these. I could also call them Adult Films, if that term hadn't been devalued by the porn industry. These are films based on the close observation of behavior. They are not mechanical constructions of infinitesimal thrills. They depend on intelligence and empathy to be appreciated.

They also require acting of a precision not necessary in many mass entertainments. They require directors with a clear idea of complex purposes. They require subtleties of lighting and sound that create a self-contained world. Most of all, they require sympathy. The directors care for their characters, and ask us to see them as individuals, not genre emblems. That requires us to see ourselves as individual viewers, not "audience members." That can be an intimate experience. I found it in these titles, which for one reason or another weren't on my earlier lists. Maybe next year I'll just come up with one alphabetical list of all the year's best films, and call it "The Best Films of 2011, A to Z."

"Yellow Handkerchief." This is the story of three insecure drifters who find themselves sharing a big convertible and driving to New Orleans not long after Hurricane Katrina. The car's driver is a teenager named Gordy (Eddie Redmayne), who doubts most of what he does and seems to apologize just by standing there. At a rural convenience store, he encounters Martine (Kristen Stewart), running away from her life. He says he's driving to New Orleans. No reason. She decides to come along. No reason. They meet a quiet, reserved man named Brett (William Hurt), and she thinks he should come along. No particular reason.

We now have the makings of a classic road picture. Three outsiders, a fabled destination, Louisiana back roads and a big old convertible. William Hurt occupies the silent center of the film. In many movies we interpret his reticence as masking intelligence. Here we realize it's a blank slate, and could be masking anything. Kristen Stewart is a wonderful actress. I must not hold the "Twilight" movies against her. In recent film after film, she shows a sure hand and an intrinsic power. I last saw her in "Welcome to the Rileys," where she played a runaway working as a hooker in New Orleans. In both films she had many scenes with experienced older actors (Hurt, James Gandolfini). In both she was rock solid. The story of Redmayne, who plays Gordy, is unexpected. He fits effortlessly into the role of the scrawny, uncertain 15-year-old Louisiana kid. Yet I learn he is 27, a Brit who went to Eton, a veteran of Shakespeare and Edward Albee.

During their odyssey their secrets are slowly confided. They learn lessons about themselves, which is required in such films, but are so slowly and convincingly arrived at here that we forgive them. Prasad made a wonderful British film in 1997, "My Son the Fanatic." I've seen none of his work since. Now comes this redneck slice of life. Since the characters are so far from the lives of the actors and the director, this is a creation of the imagination. As it must be. The ending is a shade melodramatic, but what the heck. In for one yellow handkerchief, in for a hundred.

New Article: Cronenberg casts ‘Twilight’ hearthrob as Wall Street vampire

MACLEANS.CA: Robert Pattinson is about to enter a new kind of Twilight Zone, courtesy of David Cronenberg. It was announced today (side note this was posted today but we've known this information for awhile) that the Canadian filmmaker has cast the vampire heartthrob as a bloodsucker of a different colour—a multi-billionaire hedge fund manager in Manhattan who squanders his fortune betting against the survival of the world economy. The movie is Cosmopolis, a Canada-France coproduction based on the 2003 nouvella of the same name by award-winning American writer Don Delillo. Pattinson is set to co-star with Paul Giamatti (Barney’s Version), Juliette Binoche (The English Patient), and Matheu Amalric (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly).

Landing a Cronenberg role is a savvy move for Pattinson, who needs to make the leap from the matinee idol ghetto of Twilight to more mature roles. His is not unlike the dilemma faced by an aging child star. In his previous non-vampire outing, the romance Remember Me, Pattinson showed the promise of a serious actor, but the film was a dud. Cronenberg is always a class act, and (despite his image as a horrormeister) he’s very much an actor’s director. Colin Farrell had originally been tapped for the Pattinson role, until he opted to star in a remake of Total Recall. And earlier candidates attached to the role of the female lead included Marion Cotillard and Keira Knightley, who stars in A Dangerous Method.
