Rob Talks About Fame, Acting & London with Finland’s MeNaiset Magazine

Teenaged girls hyperventilating to point of fainting, uncontrollable tears, repeating OMG.

Robert Pattinson- the “It Boy” – hottest Hollywood has to offer. He is forced to leave restaurants through kitchens…

“In a way notoriety feels fun and I enjoy walking in the middle of bodyguards, who dutifully kick people out of the way, but what else can I do? When the screaming crowd surrounds, it feels like whatever I say wouldn’t be heard, so it doesn’t matter what I say.”

Today, in London, Robert is free to speak from the heart, without the screaming, crying or hyperventilating fans. Still, he’s frustrated, squirms in his chair, drumming the table. His tousled, messy, sexy hair is under a hat and he’s wearing a beard. He answers unsure and finishes answers with laughter.

Robert has made shyness and lack of self-confidence his trademark.

“I stumbled into acting, no intentions toward it and no idea what I was doing.”

“It’s hard to learn to improve on my acting, when in the spotlight. The pressure is great. Everyone is judging my talent by how well the movie does in the box office sales or what awards it wins.”

The Pattz Hysteria began a few years ago, with Twilight. With the third installment coming out this summer and the fourth in production, Pattz fever won’t be cooling down for quite a while.

Remember Me- “the role was meaningful as I was involved from beginning to end.”

When in the U.S., Robert does nothing in his spare time, a prisoner. He plays guitar, eats and watches movies, whatever you can do in a hotel room. His old friends, sisters or girlfriend take turns staying with him. (does not mention K-Stew by name)

The papparazzi news are not interesting. If you want to stay out of the tabloids, it works if you stay within 4 walls.

At home, in London’s rainy Soho streets, he’s free to wander, with his hat and beard just like anyone else.

“I didn’t remember that it could be so peaceful. It’s been fantastic.” He wonders if it is because of the indifference of Londoners, or his beard, which hides his recognizable square jaw and thin red lips.

“If it’s the beard, then I pray I can keep it for my next role.”

Kristen Stewart Says Bella’s Not As ‘Tortured’ In ‘Eclipse’

Kristen Stewart had an 11-month break between finishing the shoot for “Twilight” in April 2008 and beginning “New Moon” last year. Production on “Eclipse” (opening June 30), though, kicked off just seven weeks after the conclusion of “New Moon.” And when KStew returned to set to slip back into the character of Bella Swan, she found the vampire-loving teen had a new sense of purpose.

It was that resolve, Stewart reveals in Entertainment Weekly’s summer movie preview issue, that made the character much easier to play. “I wasn’t as tortured as I was on ‘New Moon.’ Bella really knows what she wants in ‘Eclipse.’ She’s not just a dumb kid talking because she’s in love.”

That’s not to suggest that playing a more-focused Bella was a breeze. Though the teen matures over the course of the story, graduating from high school and getting engaged to Robert Pattinson’s Edward, at one point she is pulled back into the romantic embrace of Taylor Lautner’s werewolf Jacob. That scene was difficult, both because Stewart sees Lautner as something of a younger brother and because she understands that Bella truly loves Edward.

“It felt really weird kissing someone else as Bella. I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ ” she said. “It was a really strange experience — as it should have been.”

And then there’s an experience that fans have been looking forward to for years — one not strange at all but rather a long time coming: Edward and Bella’s engagement. Producer Wyck Godfrey said the scene will more than fulfill expectations. “She walks into Edward’s room, and there’s a beautiful four-poster bed, and it’s like, ‘Wow, here we go!’ “

Stewart sets standard for future Rock Biopics

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning have Chemistry in “The Runaways”

The power of raw acid leaks through the speakers when “Cherry Bomb” starts to play and the crowd goes insane when they see Cherie Currie wearing red lingerie. The Runaways were one of the first all-female rock bands and catapulted the careers of guitarists Joan Jett and Lita Ford into stardom. The self-named biopic chronicles the band’s rise and fall and centers around the relationship between Jett and Currie. The film is based on Currie’s autobiography “Neon Angel.” The film shows these two girls in their raw, primal forms. With Currie’s love for David Bowie and trouble fitting in to, more importantly, Jett’s struggle to play the electric guitar as a girl. As their lives unfold, so do the roots of female individuality and sexuality in music and the world.

This movie is gritty, rough, grimy and fantastic. The shots are clean, the music is tight and the acting is surprisingly smooth and worthwhile.
Dakota Fanning, as Currie, and Kristen Stewart, as Jett, have an unmatched chemistry on screen. The voices heard in the movie are actually Fanning’s and Stewart’s, which gives it a raw and completely real feeling. At first, Fanning sounds terrible when she auditions for the band, but when she puts on the sexy red outfit and performs in Japan on tour, an animal is unleashed. This scene is strikingly the climax of the film, with a complete performance of “Cherry Bomb” and stunning visuals. Unfortunately, Fanning emanates a good-girl vibe, and lacks the harsh rock-and-roll edge Currie describes in her book.

Kristen Stewart, on the other hand, takes a pound of bricks and smashes all expectations in the face with her portrayal of Jett. Not only did she do the part justice, but sets the standard for future rock-and-roll biopics. She captures the angst and emotion of the confused rock star and gets the voice just right. But, most importantly, she grips the rock-and-roll attitude and kicks it to the curb, which is proven when she urinates on a guy’s guitar for telling her she should be in the kitchen.

The final piece that brings the entire show together is manager Kim Fowley, played by Academy-Award nominee Michael Shannon (2009, for his supporting role in “Revolutionary Road”). The slimy man constantly sneers and leers at the girls, egging them on and abusing them mentally and verbally. He jumps and screams and shouts when they mess up on stage, and makes sure to let them know that he’s the one with the money and power.

The one thing this film really lacks is true introspection. The minds of Jett and Currie are never fully pried open, or at least not enough to see what’s really bothering them. They take it out on themselves with drugs, booze and sex, but there is never a moment, clean or drug-driven, of revelation where the curtains open and the true meaning of things start to unfold. The girls were only sixteen when the band hit its pinnacle, but there is still a hidden truth behind The Runaways that the movie just doesn’t fully explore.

Kristen “Steals the Show” in The Runaways

If you ask people about the 1970s girl band The Runaways, you might get a few lines from their hit “Cherry Bomb” or a Joan Jett reference, but chances are, most people these days don’t know them too well. They will, namely because of Floria Sigismondi’s new film starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, also titled “The Runaways.”

“The Runaways” tells the story of five girls trying to make it big in the male-dominated world of 70s rock. They fall under the tutelage of Kim Fowler (played extremely well by Michael Shannon), who not only gathers the girls together, but becomes the band’s manager and producer.
Under Fowler, the band is formed, with Joan Jett on rhythm guitar, Cherie Currie as lead vocalist, Sandy West on drums, Lita Ford as lead guitarist, and Robin, the bassist. Robin represented Jackie Fox, who did not want to be seen in the movie adaptation of the band’s lives.
Sigismondi really plunged the audience into the 70s underground world of grunge during some of the scenes with Fowler and the girls practicing. For instance, Fowler had to teach the girls to toughen up. This was necessary after Currie, played by not-so-nice girl Dakota Fanning, brought in a slow love song to sing in their first practice. Viewers may find it amusing to see young kids (bribed by the manager) at practices heckling the girls. To even more laughter, Jett seems to be thrilled when she finds she can hit trash chucked on stage with her guitar, swinging like a baseball player.

What is very clear, though, is that the laughs are few and far between in “The Runaways.” The audience must watch as Currie goes from being a good girl from a broken home to becoming a full-on drug addict. Though she’s clearly portrayed as the worst of the lot, the whole group experiments with drugs and sex. It also features some lesbian scenes between Jett and Currie. It’s almost surprising to see the transformation of Dakota Fanning from the ultimate cute, good girl to Currie, a bombshell and addict. The star, known for playing sweethearts in “Charlotte’s Web” and “The Secret Life of Bees,” however, seems like a natural in “The Runaways.”

Kristen Stewart, however, steals the show. Known around the world for her portrayal of “Bella” in “Twilight,” many people put her in the waif category, as her most well-known character is a lovesick, obsessed teenager. In “The Runaways,” though, Stewart really proves her talent. She is Joan Jett, no question about it. There is the fact they bear a striking resemblance, but her mannerisms and harsh, aggressive attitude mimic the real-life 70s rocker, who had no use for boys.

There’s almost no concrete plot line to the film, other than to show the band’s formation and ultimate demise and how they handled everything thrown at them in between – be it fame, sex or drugs. Interestingly, though, it’s not boring. From Currie’s first performance lip-synching David Bowie to Jett’s aggressive meeting with Fowler, the audience won’t be able to look away.

The film hits its peak, though, when the girls go on their first tour. It may be worth it only to watch how their fame made them nearly as popular as The Beatles in Japan. This culminates in the scene where they perform “Cherry Bomb,” sung well by Fanning. It’s nearly impossible to tell which songs on the soundtrack to “The Runaways” were sung by Fanning and Stewart apart from the Currie and Jett hits.

The only real downfall to the movie is the fact that other actresses playing band members, Stella Maeve, Scout Taylor-Compton and Alia Shawkat, did not get a chance to shine. “The Runaways” was almost entirely about the path Currie and Jett took, which makes sense, given their relationship and the fact that Jett was an executive producer of the film. The basic story of the tough all-girl band was told pretty quickly and wrapped up even faster. “The Runaways,” though, is the type of movie which will probably inspire girls and maybe even guys to research further the past of the band. This movie will probably give The Runaways a few more fans, at least.

Chances are many girls around the country will see “The Runaways” purely because the “Twilight” star is a lead. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking to assume they’ll be exposed to more culture after seeing the story of this epic band. But, as The Runaways paved the way for girl bands today, perhaps Sigismondi’s film will be an inspiration for girls in the future.

Gracing the cover of the mag’s April Spring Fashion issue, the 20-year-old beauty shows off some of her upper body skin as she dons an unbuttoned, embroidered blouse for the shoot. She also unleashed her intensity in the black and white photo by ditching her smile.

Dakota & Kristen make nifty cherry bombs in The Runaways

A veneer of smeared mascara on a heart of purest bubblegum — that’s the way the pioneering all-femme band The Runaways sounded on arrival in the 1970s. That’s also a fair description of writer-director Floria Sigismondi’s biopic The Runaways, a swift surface-deep tribute to rock ‘n’ roll as the agent of self-invention.

Kristen Stewart is the surly tomboy who would become Joan Jett, the Susan B. Anthony of women guitar heroes; Dakota Fanning, blonde and bruised-looking, plays lead singer Cherie Currie, a blank screen waiting for a projected image. They’re both really good — especially Fanning, who has the more elusive and passive part — and if you never forget you’re watching people playing the parts of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, that speaks more to the power of the roles than the effectiveness of the actors.

What Tolstoy said about happy families being all alike is true of bands on the make: the scenes of the group’s formation, crappy early gigs, rise to the big time and disintegration under pressure could be interchanged with almost any moderately successful act of the era. What sets this apart are the details of the female band members fighting rock’s entrenched sexism at every level, from bottle-hurling dudes to resentful cock-rockers — even as their leering Svengali, producer Kim Fowley (a hilarious Michael Shannon, in madly spieling Lizard King mode), writes checks on their sex appeal.

Jett was an executive producer, and Currie supplied the source book; even if that explains why the other members are mostly glorified extras, it still leaves one hungering for future headbanger Lita Ford’s side of the story — particularly since she’s portrayed here as a jealous shrew when she registers at all. But if The Runaways has any lingering message, it’s that the secret appeal of rock ‘n’ roll isn’t just getting to tell your own story your own way, it’s getting to make it up too.

Kristen says, “It felt really weird kissing someone else as Bella”

For Kristen Stewart, who reprises her role as Bella in Twilight: Eclipse, locking lips with costar Taylor Lautner (who plays her pal Jacob) felt odd—not just because she thinks of Lautner as a kid brother, but because Bella’s heart truly belongs to vampire hottie Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). “It felt really weird kissing someone else as Bella,” says Stewart. “I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ It was a really strange experience—as it should have been.”

Twi-hards, keep your fingers crossed: Robert Pattinson may yet host “Saturday Night Live.”

“We asked him this season,” Michaels told the magazine. “And then he did Jimmy’s show and that went well for him.”

Last year, he told the same magazine he wasn’t sure if Pattinson would make a good hot. “You never know,” he told the magazine.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse -- Though it’s not in the top spot, Eclipse – and its positioning in theaters right before the July 4th weekend – should easily take the number two spot in box office totals this summer. Considering each Twilight film does better than the one before it, Eclipse could do even more business than we’re anticipating

Eclipse Reshoots Confirmed – David Slade Still Directing

A report widely disseminated earlier today made big waves by claiming that “key scenes” in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse need to be reshot in Vancouver, and speculated that the development indicated production on the June release was troubled.

Gossip Cop looked into it, and we have the exclusive answers.

First, regarding the implication that these reshoots were unexpected, an authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “The reshoot was planned for months, like it is with the majority of films.”

Let Gossip Cop settle some other false rumors.

Contrary to today’s inaccurate speculation, “creative differences” have not led Summit to consider bringing in another director for the reshoots.

David Slade is 100% directing them, like he did the entire movie, and the studio is “very happy” with his direction of the film, which internally is believed to be the best of the series.

As for the timing, speculation that there will be three rushed days of 18-hour shoots is incorrect. The Summit rep tells Gossip Cop that it’s a two-and-a-half to three-day shoot, and that “very little” actually has to be reshot.

But the biggest misconception concerned the specific scenes alleged to be those in need of a reshoot. The rep confirms to Gossip Cop, “None of the meadow or action scenes are being reshot.”

Asked to comment on today’s alarmist rumors, the authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “Reports much like the one earlier today are ploys to drive traffic without any merit and without any support from the studio on what is actually going on or true.”

Gossip Cop will continue to bring accurate “Eclipse” production news before the film’s June theatrical release.

GossipCop.com

Rumors and gossip have followed the “Twilight Saga” ever since the first film created an uproar at the box office a year and a half ago. From the personal relationship between the stars to who will direct which sequel, it’s been a non-stop job for Summit Entertainment to put out one fire after another. That continued today.

This morning Canadian gossip site Lainey Gossip reported that reshoots of two key scenes for the forthcoming “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” were occurring in Vancouver next week. The pundit also floated that because of “creative differences” with the studio director David Slade wouldn’t oversee the reshoots and that former helmers Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight”) and Chris Weitz (“New Moon”) could step in instead. Because the outlet is based in the city and has been correct on a number stories regarding the franchise before, many media took the report with a hint of credibility which was a mistake.

HitFix has learned that Slade, who is currently overseeing the film’s score in London, would be headed to Vancouver himself to film what are obvstentively pick up shots, not reshot scenes. Pick up shots are cut into already completed scenes and can be necessary because of anything from bad lighting, a faulty print or a missing expression or line that was determined in editing. Reshoots insinuate a completely new scene being inserted into a picture.

Additionally, a Summit spokesperson told HitFix that the shoot has been planned for months, the picture is not in “trouble” and, in fact, the studio thinks it may be the best of the three so far. Considering, this writer has heard praise for “Eclipse’s” script, that’s easy to believe. The spokesperson also noted that reshoot timing is three days or less, is not a lot of material and furthermore, they do not involve the meadow scene or any action scenes whatsoever.

Fans will be able to decide their opinion on Slade’s vision for “Eclipse” when the film opens nationwide on June 30.

Kristen Stewart to appear at Coachella Music Festival

Kristen Stewart is just like Britney Spears.

OK, we kid.

But, like the pop princess did last weekend, Ms. Twilight is headed for the scorchin’ California desert in a few days…

I hear Stewart and her New Moon/Runaways costar Dakota Fanning are planning a trip to the Coachella Music Festival. Their itinerary apparently includes a stop at the Lacoste pool party on Saturday at a private estate in Indio, Calif. DJs Chris Holms and Ana Calderon will be spinning the tunes.

Other celebs expected include Stewart’s Into the Wild costar Emile Hirsch, Rachel Bilson and Lake Bell.

We doubt this will happen, but we’re hoping Stewart and Fanning plan to show off some of their vocal chops in a private on-site recording studio as part of The Voice Project, a group dedicated to promoting peace and empowering women in war-torn Uganda.

FYI to Kristen: Leave the black hoodie at home, but bring plenty of sunblock. It’s expected to hit a high out there of 89 degrees Saturday.

25 Most Underrated/Overlooked Supporting Actress Performances 2000-2009

Kristen Stewart
Into the Wild
(Sean Penn, 2007)

And speaking of young actresses, how about we move on to Miss Kristen Stewart? Before finding overblown fame for the “Twilight” films, Stewart was a relatively unknown indie actress who appeared in films for Griffin Dunne, David Gordon Green, and David Fincher. Her performance in 2009’s “Adventureland” was easily one of the very best of its year and that film is surely one of the best coming-of-age films I’ve witnessed. But there’s a performance she gave two years earlier, in a film called “Into the Wild”, that is truly shows the scorching honesty in Stewart’s acting. Sean Penn’s 2007 drama has a few scenes halfway through in which lead actor Emile Hirsch finds himself bonding with Stewart’s sad-eyed young girl. However, his term of bonding is on a more childish side compared to her pure hope for true love. Never blown over-the-top, and rightfully so, Stewart’s performance is quiet; slowly approaching moments of pure authenticity. It’s just one of the many reasons why many shouldn’t hold “Twilight” against her.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart Photo: More TWILIGHT ECLIPSE Romance Among Flowers

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Those photos of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart at play in the fields of the Twilight are quite eye-catching. What I most like about those images is that the "pretty" scenery isn’t just "pretty" — it’s not even "just" beautiful. The lighting, the green, the different hues of the flowers all add up to something almost otherworldly — much like the romance between a human being and a vampire.

I’m not a twihard, a tweenie, a twit, or totally twisted person into interspecies affairs. What attracts me to the Twilight stories and the romance is their "forbidden" aspect; that innate fear of giving all of oneself to another being — whether he has fangs or regular canines; and even if he looks like Robert Pattinson.

I’m taking Stewart/Bella’s point of view here because that’s basically how the story works. But things aren’t easy for Pattinson/Edward, either. I never quote Shakespeare, but I think the little verse "the course of true love never did run smooth" applies here — as in life. Unless you’re very, very lucky.

Well, no wonder the beautiful image above could have come straight out of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. (Javier Aguirresarobe, who also shot New Moon, is the Eclipse cinematographer.)

Directed by David Slade from a screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg, which in turn was based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse opens June 30.
