HollywoodNews.com: More than two years after they started, “are they or aren’t they” rumors about Robert Pattinson and Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart rage on, with everyone from OK Magazine to Oprah trying to get the scoop. The typical question is a direct one: journalists plainly ask them whether the rumors of their coupling are true. Yet press junket weekend interviews shifted away from dating rumors and honed in on marriage.
Said Stewart during a press junket, “I’m not ready to get married, but I have a really great family and I’d like that too someday, sure. I believe in marriage. Whatever you want to do, you know?” Commenting further to ET Online, said the star “It’s kind of sad that people cringe at the word marriage but it’s totally common. It is just our generation… Maybe if you’re in the right place, it could be the right thing for you.”
Pattinson was also on deck to answer the question–in his case for former First Daughter Jenna Bush Hager, who interviewed him for The Today Show. “I don’t think settling down should be the same thing as getting married. I mean, I guess settling down just means not sleeping with everybody. I don’t like the idea of having to ‘settle’ though”.
Though some have speculated that Rob’s answer in particular is evidence that the two stars must not be dating, a close read of their answers doesn’t show them as mutually exclusive. For two stars who will barely admit they’re dating anybody, much less one another, adding marriage to the conversation is a curious turn.
